Body plan in flatworms:
- Flatworms have soft and flattened bodies.
- The bodies of flatworms are bilaterally symmetrical i.e. right and left sides of the body are similar.
- The bodies of flatworms do not have special respiratory system, skeletal system and circulatory system.
- No body cavity or coelom is present in flatworms. Thus, the body is acoelomate.
- Parenchyma, a spongy tissue fills the spaces between organs in the body of flatworms.
- The body of flatworms is derived from three cell layers. Thus, the body is triploblastic.
